
Jason Kuttner
Jason Kuttner earned his undergraduate degree studying Philosophy, Psychology, Religious studies, Botany and Chinese. He attended NYU, Reed College and received his BA from the University of Oregon. Kuttner then earned a post-baccalaureate fellowship from the University of Oregon in Asian Studies and Chinese Language that was funded by National Security Education Program. He received his MA in Counseling Psychology from Portland State University and is also certified as an Addictions Counselor in the State of Oregon.
Jason has spent much of his career working with high-risk populations including homeless youth, substance abusing mothers, severely mentally ill adolescents and adults. In his private practice, Jason helps individuals and couples with issues including depression, anxiety, relationships, sexual difficulties. He has extensive experience working with straight, gay, lesbian, bi, trans, and polyamorous clients. Having focused on understanding and treating an eclectic variety of clients, Jason brings a sense of calm and gentle humor to therapy without ever being judgmental or closed-minded.
Jason taught at PSU as a fellow in the disciplines of philosophy, psychology, and religious studies. He is an experienced presenter, educator, and group facilitator. Jason is a competent and sympathetic group and class leader, and works closely with the other 'A Better Choice' practitioners as an essential component of holistic healing.
Committed to supporting diversity and balance in our community, Jason focuses on motivational therapy, cognitive therapy, empathy, mind/body identification, artistic balance, cancer and pain management, stress related issues, young adults, and addiction treatment. Kuttner works closely with Dr. Kell and other practitioners to create an individualized plan for each unique client.
The father of a brilliant and artistic daughter, Jason is a musician on the side and an avid traveler when he has the opportunity. He enjoys spending time with friends, cooking and, enjoying the local arts communities.
